Ruth Roman is the youngest daughter of Lithuanian and Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. When her father passed away as a carnival barker, at the age of an infant She was required to support the family working both as a maid and server. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts in which she went to the school. The institution she was in after only two years in pursuit of the profession of acting. The path was difficult to take. Although she got an opportunity as a hat check girl in New York posing as a still for a mystery magazine however, there were no theatre opportunities that was offered. When she was employed as a hat-check girl in a nightclub, she resigned and went back to Boston. In the New England Repertory Company was the first job she had as an actor who was steady. The company paid her doing shifts during the day, as an usherette. She also been accepted into Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she studied drama.
